Simeon Barnett

It wasn’t until I was in H.S. that I realized how fortunate I was to be raised in a two parent household, a father that was a “grinder.” Laying the foundation for a strong work ethic, in church every Sunday, discipline, integrity, being productive on a daily basis. Joseph Barnett Sr. was a real stand-up guy that was loved by most.

I started working at a very young age. Started the grind at 14. I wanted to feel a sense of independence. I didn’t care what it was - packing bags, city messenger, youth programs, teacher-aide, stock boy at local variety store, Key Food etc.  As I got older, went to college, & worked in offices just to get a check.

Bushwick definitely taught me my survival skills. That’s something a degree can’t get you. I’m proud of where I’m from. A work ethic, common sense and a goal can take you just about anywhere you wanna go in life.
